a 'friend' needed some money and gave me his 696-1 as collateral. that was 10 years ago. does anyone know the value of a 696-1?

I tell you the 696 is worth $ 800.00, no longer available and it is great to carry.

The previous posters are right in the ballpark, $750 to $800 in most locations. I bought my 696-1 from another member here on the forum and I am just happy as hell with it.

Unless you need the money I would hang onto it. They ain't never gonna go down in price. If you do decide to sell it, post it here on the forum. A lot of members here would love to have it.

I picked up this 696-1 about 5 years ago with box, papers and original rubber grips for $500.
I'd say in CA they are now worth $800 to a $1000.

The 696-1 was used to secure a $750.00 loan (I knew nothing about the gun but made the loan as a favor). I have never shot the gun and not being a gun collector or hunter, I really don't need the gun. How do you post an item for sale? Can a firearm be shipped legally from state to state?

Told you I am a novice.

The pistol is going to need to be received by a FFL in the buyers state. Some accept shipments from non-FFls, others don't. Before you put it up for sale, check your state laws and find a FFL who will ship at a reasonable price. Best to go FFL to FFL to save potential hassles. Shipping is usually no more than $40 (sometimes $25-$35) charged by the shipping FFL so don't get hosed by someone trying take advantage of you.
