I picked up a 745 from Gunbroker this week. I knew it was rough when I bid on it but I think I did OK on it.

Some idiot had the slide chromed. Not sure what I will about that just yet. Might keep an eyeball open for another slide.

What I am looking for now is a a set of rubber grips. Anyone know where I can get a set of Pachmayrs. I've seen the ones on GB but someone is mighty proud of them!

I'd settle for a used set if anyone has a pair laying around they are not using.

Thanks

Vic

I have a set of Pachmayr 645's on my 745. If/when you find a set, keep in mind that the left panel will need some careful hand trimming along the manual thumb safety due to the enlarged safety lever.

I saw that auction and I also wanted to bid but the pictures didn't do enough to convince me that the pistol wasn't wrecked. Glad to hear that it sounds salvageable!

Thanks for the tip.

It looks to be ok internally; looks like the frame was sanded in an attempt to polish it to match the chrome on the slide.

After I shoot it I will completely strip it and see if I can't find a local guy who can bead blast the frame into something respectable looking.

The grips were trashed before someone coated them with what looks like bar varnish. The factory grips that I had on my last 745 were kind of aggressive and made shooting a couple hundred rounds a less than pleasant experience. Midway still has the factory grips in stock but the Pachmyers are discontinued.

Hello,
I have a pair of Pachmayr Signature grips that were very briefly on my 645 before I changed them to 745 walnut stocks. They are basically new in the box. If interested send me a PM and we'll see if we can work out the details.
