Hello, I took my newly acquired 745 to the range today. It shoots great, I got this with 4 mags, one of which has the metal follower and the other three with red followers. The metal follower didn't feed reliably when releasing the slide and this was the only one of the four i took with me. I tried my dads 4506 mags with the red followers and it seemed to feed the first round flawlessly. Anyone else have similar issues with mags with the metal followers?

I stripped it for cleaning completely and cleaned, oil and greased appropriately and after reassembly I noticed I can release the single action hammer with or without a magazine. I know from my 3rd gens that I can't release the hammer without a mag in place. Do I have an issue? I could have incorrectly put it back together Or is this common/typical for the single action 745?

Thanks

Q: Will the M745 fire without a magazine inserted?

A: Yes. This is normal for this model. The hammer will also fall when the trigger is squeezed even when the safety is in the safe position. This can be a little disconcerting if you are not expecting it. The pistol will not actually fire unless the safety is in the fire position.

I can't help out with the magazine with the metal follower. I do have some magazines with the metal magazine floor plate but have not had any problems with them other than needing to replace the spring.

The M745 is a great pistol. Enjoy it!
