75 Years Ago: December 16, 1944

When we talk of killing prisoners of war, I had a cousin who was in the 106th Infantry Division. I considered him to be the last of the true hillbillies. He never talked much about it but he did tell me that one day their company commander called them all together and told them that the Germans had machine gunned a group of American POWs. (Malmedy). The company commander told them that we weren't going to take any more German prisoners "so we didn't". The SS made a big mistake with the Malmedy executions.
