79 YEARS AGO TODAY
JUNE 6,1944 D-DAY

THE LARGEST AMPHIBIOUS INVASION IN THE WORLD TOOK PLACE. OVER 4400 ALLIED PERSONNEL WERE KILLED ON THAT 1 DAY WITH 2501 OF THOSE AMERICANS. 160,000 ALLIED SOLDIERS TOOK PART IN IT. MOST OF THEM BETWEEN 18-25 YEARS OLD.
MY DADDY WAS THERE 2 DAYS LATER. THEIR BRAVERY AND COURAGE CANNOT BE DESCRIBED IN WORDS. THEY WERE THERE SO YOU COULD ENJOY THE FREEDOM YOU HAVE TODAY.

DON'T EVER FORGET THIS DAY.

DON'T EVER LET YOUR CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN FORGET IT.

I LOOK AT THIS COUNTRY AND OUR GOVERNMENT TODAY AND IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH TO SEE WHAT IT HAS BECOME. I AM THANKFUL TO KNOW THAT AT ONE TIME IN THIS COUNTRY, WE HAD MEN WHO WERE REAL MEN AND WEREN'T AFRAID TO DIE FOR THEIR COUNTRY. DON'T EVER LET THEM BE FORGOTTEN.

A momentous day in world history. So many people owe them so much. This famous pic of Ike with a group of paratroopers is cool, the military sensors have covered over their unit patches, IIRC, They are the 101st.
