Approx what year did S&W catalog the 8 3/8" bbl in a Model 14? The ones I seem to see are generally -4s but wondering if they were introduced earlier in that model? Thanks in advance gents.

I had a M14 "no dash" that I gave to a friend. Not sure of manufacture date It had non-relieved targets on it. Heckuva shooter.

Mine is a 14-3 from early 1971. I love the long 8-3/8" tube and it does not feel either gangly or unwieldy at all.

The first S&W I bought that started my love affair is a Model 14 no dash with 8 3/8" barrel with target grips. Serial K 339352

S&WCA #3896

I own a 4 screw Md 14 8 3/8th's that shipped in January 1959. K338319. I have not heard of an earlier one like this.

The serial number on this one puts it in 1960. My friends tell me I'm cheating because the barrel is touching the target when I shoot.

I was never accused of pressing the barrel against the target, your arm must be longer than mine, I only had to try to explain the powder burns on the target.
