Given the limited numbers produced by the two runs I wouldn't go less than $1000 but you'll need the right buyer[not surprisingly] because of the various flavors that followed this model. It should be desirable depending on your location.
Price would also be person to person - a dealer would never offer that much.

When I bought mine about 15 yrs ago I paid $1025.

I saw one on Gunbroker a couple months ago that was stone cold mint with box & accessories that sold for around $875. (don't remember the exact amount, but I'm pretty sure it was a bit less than that)
I almost bid on it but decided not to, but I did follow it to the end. There really wasn't much interest on it, which really surprised me. I mean this gun looked brand spanking new. Thought maybe because it was getting close to Christmas.
Hyatt's gun shop was the seller.

expect 800-1000 in this market/economy. and what might be a sure thing isnt anymore.

might want to try G/B and start with a min and if you dont get it...keep dropping.

Stumbled across an 845 last year in a local shop, bought it on the spot for $800. I'm a bullseye competitor, that gun is a dream to shoot.It is mint as new, with the aluminum crested case from PC. The same shop has a 945 manufactured early for $1450 with case. Don't think the seller knew what he had. Its a nice mate for my 41 and 52. 845s are few and far between. Try to find a bullseye forum or something to sell it, you will get more.

The 845 Horton on G/B is not a real 1998 model 845. The real ones have a special manufacturing enraving on the silde. They made 150 of them. Mine is #114. Buyer beware!

Well, the one on GB I posted matches the description of the OP. He made no mention of a 1998 model.
What else is different about your real gun?

The first run of 845s' with the MPC prefix are from '95. They lack the forward cocking serrations and "Model of 1998" scroll on the slide.I believe there were 500 of the first run and far less of the '98 model.

The side of the slide carries "Model 845 1998 in rather large type. It has "BoMar" sights and model specific mags. Mine came with an aluminum case, with combo lock latches. The lid carries a large metal S&W Performance Center logo plate. The serial numer sould be 00150 or lower...mine is 00114. It is a dream to shoot right out of the case. Shot it today with my just acquired 52-2. Can't wait until outdoor season.

Other than the serrations and scoll it is the same as the earlier 845. They use the same mags as 645/4500 guns with the PC lazer etching on them.

Bill.......I would put it up on Gunbroker if i were you. You can always start with a "high" minimum bid ($1001.00 ??...$1200 ??...). and re-post it with a lower $$$ amount if nobody bids.
What ever you decide.....let us know in this thread....you never know who might be interested, and this thread does attract those interested in the 845 for one reason or another...
