Does the 18 1/2" improved cylinder barrel fit the older model 870's?

If it's an 870, it should fit. Finnish might be different, but mechanics should be the same.

So far as I know. The catch is you have to remember that 3" shells will not eject through a 2.75" port.

The barrel for the older 870s should have the ball detent on the ring under the barrel. Newer barrels do not have a detent and will not work.

With the newer type barrels that do not have a spring loaded ball in
the ring for the retaining cap that screws on the magazine tube you can probable use your old cap with an O ring between the cap and the
ring.

Brownells sells a wave ring which keeps the cap from backing out on ball-less barrels.
