I'm sure it can but you'll have part of the mag extending below the grip. Unsightly but functional.

This should help. :)

When I saw the title, I wondered how long it would take.

THIRD response. Wow.

zzzipper & ejeli thank you for your help. I am new to semi auto (can I call it that or do I have to say "semi-automatic") weapons I was not aware of the difference between clip or magazine. Thanx again When faced with the opportunity to teach or be obnoxious I always choose teach....it's far let prentnsious

Actually, despite being new, you are correct in using the term semi-auto or semi-automatic, which is correct, instead of auto, which is not.;)

Or just say pistol.

That's another term I never quite got when referring to a semi-auto (I too was unaware of the difference between a clip and a magazine when I first got into shooting and was referred to the pic I posted to show the difference back then - sorry if it came off as snooty - didn't mean it to OP).

Anyway back to my pistol question. I always assumed pistol was like saying handgun but later realized pistol meant semi-auto while revolver meant...well revolver. I guess I am wondering where that difference comes from. To this day I still feel like pistol means any handgun and revolver or semi-auto are the two main different types. What about single shots like a tc contender? I guess they aren't pistols. So confused...

Or just say pistol.

Technically and historically, pistol is an all-encompassing term which includes both REVOLVERS and SELF-LOADERS, i.e. handguns.

Sam Colt referred to his invention as a "revolving pistol."

Thus, there are semi-automatic, or self-loading, pistols and revolving pistols.

Common usage these days is, as usual, imprecise. I agree with you that people tend to drop the "semi-automatic" off of the correct description, which would be "semi-automatic pistol," but that does not make it precise, or either technically or historically accurate.

:)
