My favorite S&W revolver, the 929. Shoots great with 9mm and 160 grain coated bullets for ICORE and Steel Challenge.

That is a nice firearm and chambered in 9mm. Must not be tempted, too many S&W revolvers, too little money, need to retire. Glad that you are enjoying it.

I have one, that I shoot in ICOR matches. I had the barrel cut back to 5", I believe it has a better balance now. I really like it.

I wanted that gun in 38 Super but S&W won't chamber a cylinder for it and most gunsmiths won't work on the Ti cylinder! A dual cylinder gun? ?(Not to be).

I just finished putting a 627-4 38 super cylinder in a 929. The gun works with both cylinders. The 38 super cylinder is the same length as the 929 cylinder.

Nice looking rig, AZ.
I had a 929, wanted to love it but didn't. Mine had accuracy issues even after a trip to the mothership. ( 6" at 35' with any ammo.) Traded it towards a 986 which I've been pretty happy with. Still not a fan of the titanium cylindar though. I think next step is to sell off the 986 and finance a second cylinder in 9mm/38super for my 627PC. For me , the 5" barrel and steel cylinder in either L/N frame has perfect ballance.

This is the 929 I'll be using this year. The barrel extension was cut off, and the front underlug was trimmed back. At the front of the barrel , it was recessed and re-crowned. This was a spare 929 that didn't get shot much last year. It only lost about an ounce or more of weight, but somehow feels a lot lighter.

Here are the 929's we shot last year. Mine has the black Houge cylinder release, so we can tell them apart!

I thought I was the only one who shot it without the caps. Those caps are messy. And do get loose every 200 rounds or so.
The 929 is heavy enough to tame the most stoutly loads. They do feel like light taps.

Precisely why I went with a 627. Really wanted to love the 929 but like you, didn't feel good in my hands...
