🧼Cleaning my 952-1 and I note slide and barrel are are electropencil numbered.

I would assume it was factory if the numbering had a connection to the frame SN.

Any ideas why it seems a random number would be added?

It is the same as the "Assembly number" on revolvers. It assures fitted parts that require close fitting can be kept together during manufacture. Barrel to slide, Slide to frame, etc.

Strange to me that I haven't found a number on the frame.

Guess build sheet probably used frame SN as the master number than sub assemblies were given the added two digit number.

Would make sense to me if the two digits were last two digits of frame SN.

Perhaps too Euro for the time.

Thank you for your response!
