I bought my 9c a couple years ago here in OH. It came with 10 rd clips. At that time, and up to about 6 months ago, there were no 12 rd clips available in the known universe. Now there are. Halleluiah!

I see Midway and Cheaper have them, as well as a couple other places. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I was going to sell my 10 rounders, but think I'll keep them case I ever find myself in a 10 rd state.

I had picked up a full size mag ( with x grip adapter ) to use in my 9c from Greg Cote llc. He had good pricing and service and may carry other 9c mags as well.

Yeah, I've also heard some bad things about Midway.

Only thing "bad" about Midway are their prices, CTD jacked prices sky high during the panic. Some would argue supply & demand, others think they were profiteering off the panic, it's up to you what you want to think about them.

BTW, don't ever call a magazine a "clip", it is not a "clip." Some guns like the M1 Garand did in fact use a clip & not a magazine. Most modern guns use magazines.

Quantico Tactical regularly advertises M&P mags, including the 9c 12-rounders - three for $78.00. Not a bad deal.

Keep the 10-rounders. As you said, they're good for 10-round states.

Mags will eventually wear out. Use the 10's at the range and reserve the 12's for social work after making sure they function flawlessly.

I read about magazines wearing out, needing the springs replaced or being kept empty in order to extend their useful life. All I know is that all three mags for my Glock 23 were kept fully loaded before I retired in 1997, are still kept like that and I've never had a problem w/them.

Yep, there are anecdotal examples of WW2 1911s being kept loaded for decades outdoors, being found and firing without issue. Keeping mags loaded doesn't wear them out, use (compression cycles) is what wears them out. Heavy shooters could wear a mag out within a year if it's constantly being used to shoot.

If you prefer the finger extension on the 12 round magazines, pick up a few of these.

Mec-Gar Extended Mag Base Pad +2 Optimum Series Mag

It actually adds 3 rounds on the M&P and has been pretty reliable on my FS. My FS just needs stronger springs for Last round hold open.

I hear the compact mags are gtg in regards to spring tension. Also they lock on the magazine securely.

Take down tool just needs some minor sanding on the compact.
15 round magazines are also nice for certain states that restrict to 15 rounds.

The m4 carbine thread says it allows 2 more rounds of 40S&W as well.

Just another option.

15+1 in Compact, 20+1 in Fullsize Magazines

Midway has them under "Mec Gar +2 Extension"

They work nicely, but no instructions are included. When installing the floor plate, make sure the tab is outside of the magazine, not inside. Once the Extension is installed properly, the plate will lock in and need a flat head to remove it.

Both guns ran with no reliability issues as far as the extensions were concerned. I just have to buy some higher power springs for lock back.

Believe you have misread what I said.

I said on the compact they are good to go. As in they hold open with no issues and need no modding/extra power springs. For the compact magazines they are just drop in. Aside from the takedown tool needing a slight sanding. (They are like what though, 5 bucks?)

I stated the full size magazines need a spring swap out. ISMI Springs work wonderfuly with the fullsize magazines.

Also I'm not sure if you read the two threads I linked. If you were just skimming it happens. There is more information in those two threads.

Soda, Pop, Coke..... Mag, Clip... These are regional things that REALLY do not matter to most. Can we stop correcting people on something that really does not matter???? I apologize for a minor thread hijack.

From the NRA-ILA glossary
CLIP
A device for holding a group of cartridges. Semantic wars have been fought over the word, with some insisting it is not a synonym for "detachable magazine." For 80 years, however, it has been so used by manufacturers and the military. There is no argument that it can also mean a separate device for holding and transferring a group of cartridges to a fixed or detachable magazine or as a device inserted with cartridges into the mechanism of a firearm becoming, in effect, part of that mechanism.

It is precisely because there are two completely dissimilar items, one called a clip and one called a magazine, both used in firearms, that correcting improper use of the words is necessary. If it was merely two different words used for the same item, then no correction is necessary.

image.jpgIf firing the M1 Garand it was called a clip. Made a very distinct "ping" when the last round was fired and clip was ejected. I only shot the M1 once while in the infantry training regiment (ITR) part of boot camp.
