Just curious if anyone has ever seen this primer cup trick before? I got this a couple of weeks ago, finally shot it last week, and cleaned it this afternoon.
I was originally just going to give it a normal cleaning, then I decided to take the grips off, and found this. I loosened the strain screw and found the tip of it had been ever so slightly rounded and polished, the primer cup placed on it and a small spot on the hammer spring was polished. It probably has something to do with crazy smoothness of this action. Also the other strange thing was the very tip of the ejector rod was polished. And the rebound slide was like glass.
I probably paid too much for this one, but I was searching GB for an outdoorsman and came across this bit of history. I just thought it had a cool old school craftsmanship vibe. Prewar gun, and probably late 40s early 50s gunsmith work. The hammer isn't cockeyed but still beautiful workmanship. As I stated earlier, crazy smooth action. The shame of it is, how many heavy duties are floating around with number matching prewar magnas.
P.S. I've never had a need to look for or price them, but curious what a set of prewar magnas are worth.
