I've never had this much problem loading a magazine.

Getting the 1st round is next to impossible but once I got it inserted the rest loaded easier up to round 11.

Round 12 took so much force to get in that once fully loaded I couldn't get the mag to seat into the gun with a closed slide.

I'll leave all 3 mags to set with 11 rounds for a while to take a set but should I just stick with 11 rounds instead of forcing the mag spring to full capacity?

TIA

It will get easier with use

However the best investment I ever made was teh purchase of an Uplula loading tool

When I bought mine they wer only available in black. Now there are at least half a dozen color choices

I’m not sure what the problem is, I have it, too. Both 9mm and .40 mags have those issues. Hopefully someone will post with a fix.

Have same issue. They get a bit easier but there is nearly no way in slamming magazine home with slide closed.

When I bought my 9c many moons ago, the promo that was on at the time was getting 3 "free " magazines from S&W. It was impossible to load 12 rounds by hand(or should I say thumb). The Uplula loading tool easily cured the problem. I don't know if I can load 12 in them by hand to this day, because I always use the Uplula.

I have 5 mags for my 9c, I shoot it in IDPA CCP category. Yes, it's without a doubt the stiffest mags I've ever loaded.

I can seat mine on when slide forward but it does take a firm slap to do so.

Same issue with my 10rders. Can only fit 9 or cant insert mag with slide forward.

did some measuring,

11 coils in the mag spring .050 thickness totalling .550 of compressed spring

the follower is .542 deep

when loaded with 12 rounds there is .097 distance from bottom of the follower to the base of the mag.

the locking plate is .031 thick

this leaves.058 free room between the coils and the bottom of the mag

with a fully loaded mag inserted in the gun the coils are compressed even further, wouldn't this affect the mag spring life? over-compressing?

I'm thinking leaving it at 11+1 is better than 12+1 in this case.

It's only over-compressing if it was NOT designed to account for this level of compressing to begin with.

Sort of like the flush fit 1911 mags that stuff 8 rounds into a mag body that was designed for 7 rounds. Now that is over compression.
