Anyone have experience with both the 9C and the XDm9? pros/cons? of the 9C vs. XDm9. they are the same price for me.

I am down to these two. A carry weapon/range/home defense(with larger cap mag). These two seem to fit the bill nicely.

I'm going to stick w/ a safety as its my first conceal carry firearm. I figger if people train a lot to go without, I can train a lot and go with.

XDm9 has a grip safety, wondering what the reliability of those are, if having to draw quickly w/ adrenaline going, is it possible/likely/documented to miss-grip and not get the safety off properly?

on the 9C, folks with external safeties, do they ever get clicked off with IWB carry as they are good size levers that don't require a whole lot of force? Are the ext safeties incompatible w/ any certain holsters?

also on the 9C, is there a way to keep the left side safety lever but remove the right side safety lever for a crimson laser grip? I emailed both CT and SW but haven't heard back.

thanks!

You're talking the XD9 Service (4" barrel), right?
When I was hunting for a Compact, it was down to the 9c and XDM9c.
After shooting both side-by-side, I liked the factory trigger and over-all feel of the XDM9c (and the XD9 Service) better.

Try to actually shoot both side-by-side and feel which shoots better for you.

As for External safety... IMO, they're not needed on a Striker Fired pistol, unless you put an ultra-lightweight trigger kit in it.

I have not shot the Springfield you are talking about. My Springfield is an older 1911 model which I love. I used to compete with it. My girls fight over who get it when I kick the bucket. They both have their own guns, but they still love my 1911. I do have the 9c with a thumb safety. I specifically got the one with the thumb safety because I am used to them and I feel more comfortable carrying with one. You can get one with a thumb safety and if you do not like it, you can remove it. I don't find it hard to flip on and off. I am used to it. When I go to shoot my other striker fire gun (that does not have a thumb safety) I always find myself trying to flip the safety off, before the first shot. I just laugh at myself when I do that.
