My Oldest Grandson, William, 27, came down last weekend to visit with the old guy for awhile. Besides consuming a lot of Mexican food and Carolina smoked pork (Bobby's in Fountain Inn) we did some fishing and made two trips to the indooor range. We were in the 15 yard side and ran our targets all the way back to the wall and kept them on the paper and in the scoring rings. First day we shot the 41 Smith, all 9s and 10s for me, William had the same sized group but a bit low because it is not sighted for him. Also shot the High Standard Superamatic Citation I bought on the forum from Mr Doug Johnson. Almost as good as the 41. William liked the grip angle better. Ran about 50 rounds each through the 645 and the 4516. Bigger groups but still all in the scoring rings. The other shooters banging away 15 ft with their 9 mm asked some polite questions. The 645 exhibited its only flaw and tossed an ambidextrous safety retaining screw. Fortunately we did not lose the safety lever.. Must remember loc-tight next time. Also fired the Berreta Bobcat 32. It was a hoot. Maybe one or two outside of that 8 inch circle at 15 yards but most inside. It is loud, it has a muzzle flash, and it throws empty cases all over. It was a high point.
Afer a gun cleaning session we headed back the next day with an assortment of 22s; A Single Six 6 1/2 inch bbl. A S&W Model 18, a Ruger Mark IV, and Walter P22. William commented that the trigger on the Mark IV was excellent practice for shooting the M18 in double action. After two great days at the range Sunday we went down to Lake Hartwell with a guide we like and caught 24 fish, hybrids and stripers in the 1 1/2 to 3 pound range. I caught 6 of them, William the rest,

Good for him, and better for you!

My grandson turned 18 a couple of years ago and can make up his own mind about shooting - he did, and we've had excellent, gratifying range safety, gunhandling, and shooting sessions in the 3 years since. My late daughter and his father had not allowed such; he said he had been waiting 15 years to shoot with grandpa. 🙂

Man, what a GREAT TIME! Our son is a self-employed, independent, good looking HUNK. All the girls/women he's dated up until have gone bat-**** crazy on him. Except the last one.. She just decided out of the blue she didn't want anything to do with him. I'm going to have to wait on 'Grandpa time'. We have some 'adopted' grandchildren in Florida. We unofficially adopted their mother many years ago.
