When I got my 9ez, I was aware of the proper and improper procedure for slide removal. Dont depress the grip safety. Dont pull trigger in process of removing rack. Since this is my first auto of any kind I want to be sure I dont end up in a situation like others have. I dont care for the instructions in the manual because for me it's to ez to depress the grip safety and or depress the trigger in the process especially when pulling on the slide to disengage slide stop lever to remove slide from frame. I found a better way for myself to do it using only 3 fingers. sorry no pics for my procedure.
1. Remove mag, lock slide open and look in chamber to make sure its empty before starting.
2. When #1 is completed, lay gun flat on open left hand with takedown lever facing up and muzzle pointing to your belly button. Rotate take down lever.
3. Put your right stink finger in the trigger guard and your left index finger and thumb and grasp the rear of slide with them. All that should be touching the gun now is three fingers.
4. Hold stink finger with a steady pull on trigger housing while pulling rack back with left thumb and index finger to disengage the slide stop. When slide stop disengages slowly let the slide slide forward until all spring pressure is removed and continue sliding the slide off the frame at this point I use my right index finger and thumb on the grip to help balance the gun while sliding the slide off the frame.

Putting the slide back on.
1.insert stink finger in trigger guard and slide slide into frame until it stops.
2. Take left index finger and thumb and grasp end of slide and pull the slide back until it reaches the slide stop.
3. With the slide pulled back to the slide stop, take your right thumb and engage the slide stop to lock the slide open.
4. When slide stop is engaged rotate takedown lever back up to is operational position.
5. Check for proper operation before proceeding! All good then lock and load.
In this manner I can remove slide without touching the grip of the gun or the grip safety. I also dont come in contact with trigger. I use my stink finger as an anchor for the gun while using other fingers to grasp and pull on slide to compress spring. you can reverse what does the pulling thumb and inex finger or stink fingerI found either way works for me. The only issue some may have is not enough room for stink finger to fit well into trigger guard with take down lever pointing down. If that's an issue try a smaller finger. Hope this helps. For me this is better than factory instruction. If someone has found a ezr way let's hear about it.

On-topic: I'm negotiating for as as-new 9EZ now - other than disassembly, it seems to have glowing reviews. I really like the light-racking part, the ears on the back of the slide, and the fact that it doesn't have the stovepipe problem that continues to plague the 380 EZ.

Off-topic: Wow, I hadn't heard the stink-finger term in a looong time ;)

I picked up an EZ9 earlier this year and it has been a great shooter. Yes the disassembly/assembly is different than the normal MP models I have, so until i get a few more takedowns with it i just leave the manual on the bench. Helps remind me to keep off the grip safety. I wouldn't say that part is any concern its just different. But otherwise it is a really nice model overall.

9 EZ Rack removal

Stink finger? LOL haven't heard that since 1964 when my Gunny used to tell me to use the 'stink' finger when I went to DC.

Anyway on my .380 EZ PC I just clear the gun, rack the slide, flip down the lever and pull the slide off. Not touching the grip safety and easy, peasy. And last to the range running a 100 plus rounds of Blazer and no FTF, FTE or any other problems.

Must be Marine skill set, LOL

Point the gun at yourself and put your finger in the trigger guard????!!!!!!!

Rack it, turn the takedown lever and then without pressing the grip safety, let the slide forward. Let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill here.
