AIM had a sale on unissued 1st generation frames, bought one a few weeks ago, about 100 shipped. Found a beat up slide and barrel with other parts on every gun parts.com.

I’m in the pistol for about 300, thought I might want to get the pistol together before the current administration does something interesting….

Was supposed to be a fun build, now it’s a “get the parts now” build….

Yeah, great deal, I had on hand a complete M&P 9mm slide, got this 100 buck unissued complete frame and voila, a working gun and it works great. I should have bought more than one though.

Off topic, but: You know how to spell "Voila" instead of viola, walla, etc. I think this is the first time I have seen anyone get it right!!!:D:D

I picked up one of those frames, seems like new old stock from the change over to the 2.0. Still had the S&W part number tag on it, updated sear etc.

I thought briefly about buying one of those but the same seller almost always has about any caliber of LEO turn in Glocks for about $400. I've gone through the torture of looking for complete slides and mostly find them more expensive individually than just buying a complete firearm.

To me, all polymer firearms are equal so I saw no upside to it.

(I just looked, they have M&P 40 LEO trade ins for $320 right now)

Not sure how your S&W parts interchange, but I have SA EMP4's in 9mm and .40S&W. I can swap slide/barrels with the frames and both will function properly, but I won't fire the .40 on the 9mm frame. The .40 frame on my pair is steel, where the 9mm frame is alloy.

You'd have to have the two frames side by side to see what might have to modified. You'd likely be much better off just buying a complete 3.6 as the modifications might likely make the frame unsuitable to use with a longer slide assembly.

Since the slide assembly rests against the body and helps support the gun while holstered, what you'd end up with is a very top heavy piece that wants to sag outward. If what you're looking for is increased capacity, standard practice back when was standard/extended magazines as the reloads.

I have a gen 1 M&P core and a gen 1 40sw with a thumb safety . Both have low 3lb apex fss trigger kits in them so When I had hand surgery I had to shoot with my weak hand for a moth and another couple months before my hand was back to something close to normal . Upper swapped caused no problems . Even the apex gunsmith fit barrel on my wifes 9mm core work well on both frames .
Gen 2 should work just as well .

I have a 2.0 full size and 4" Compact in 40 S&W. I purchased a couple 2.0 complete uppers in 9mm and they fit, fire and function perfectly.....
In fact, I find the 9mm setup more accurate than when they are in the 40's configuration.

If you're talking about Gen 2.0 slide assembly on Gen 1.0 frame, not quite. The slide stops are different and would have to be changed. Might be other issues, not sure.

Upper swaps between Gen 2.0s, no problem.
