I tried out the standard 5906 barrel and it fits fine in the 411 slide I tried, but is a little loose around the bushing. I have seen where a 5906TSW bbl was used in a 4046TSW. Is the 5906 TSW barrel fatter to fit a larger bushing?

Will the 5906TSW barrel work in any full size 40xx slide to convert to 357 sig?

I want to be able to drop in barrel for my standard 4006 to 357 sig.

In lieu of reaming a barrel, is there barrel makers out there that currently make one for the 4006?

Thanks,

Rosewood

Most every barrel maker that used to make 3rd Gen barrels can still make 3rd Gen barrels if the want to. Just do not list them on their website as inventory items

Mostly I use Bar-sto or Briley for barrels, but both have been able to accommodate me with anything I've needed just by making a phone call to them

Just remember that these are non cataloged items so they're going to fit them into their production schedule when they have time. This is not something you're going to get fast, but it will be a barrel that is made right

I always wanted a 6904 Super 9

However these three barrels are all rechambers

All of the 40s&w models have the larger barrel bushing, and consequently, the barrel "bell" is larger.

All of the "standard" 9mm models have the smaller barrel bushing, and consequently, the barrel "bell" is smaller.

Only the TSW models share the same size barrel bushing and "bell' between the 9mm and 40s&w models.

Yes and no...

The 5906TSW barrel will "fit" in a standard 4006, but while the barrel bushing is the same, the "mating" cam lugs on the bottom of the barrel and the frame are at a slightly different angle on the standard models versus the TSW models.

Therefore, only with some VERY tedious file work on the barrel lugs, (I've done it.) can a TSW barrel be made to work in a standard frame.

I've never tried to source a barrel from one of the aftermarket barrel manufacturers.

But if you do, make sure they know about the difference in the angles between the cam lugs.

As someone with the mechanical aptitude of a rock, if I were on path such as yours, I would contact BMCM and make him the lead on my project. The money spent on his knowledge would be worth it to me.
