Hello
Most of the 9mm reviews that I did were shot with two guns.
A SIG 365 SAS, with a 3.1 inch barrel and a Taurus G3 with a 4 inch barrel.
First I do forensic exam of the ammunition. Next I shoot a group while chronographing with each gun. 10 yards with the SIG and 15 yards with the G3. Chronograph is a Oehler 35P
Then the ammunition is shot out of each gun into a 55 gallon plastic barrel of water. The bullets are then recovered, photographed and then measured for expansion. In cases where the bullet fragments and loses its jacket, a weight is taken with all the recovered material and also a weight taken with just the lead core.
Here is the link to all the photos of the review;

First, the bullet is actually a 124gr JHP not a 125. Aside from that, this is some remarkable ammunition. The propellant is a small extruded and not the typical small flake or flattened ball that is so common. And a mere 5.3grs yields just under 1200 fps in the 4 inch Taurus, which is the advertised velocity. The standard deviations with both guns were under 5, which is very unusual. Plus, the accuracy in both guns was more than acceptable. The expansion in both guns was good, the bullets from both guns staying together from the water test. Quite impressed with this ammunition.

I enjoy ammo tests. FWIW, about 20 years ago I chronographed Corbon 125 grain 9mm and 38 Super in two 5" semi-autos, identical except for chambering. Looked up the results in my old notes. The 38 Super averaged 1314 FPS, the 9mm averaged 1339 FPS. Not the results I would have expected. But this was long before Corbon became under new ownership. Corbon factory loads may be loaded to different specs now. All interesting though.

Ive never seen any Super Vel from the 80s. I always read that was hot stuff.

I do have most of a box of 20 Cor Bon 200 grain 45 ACPs. I ought to chrono a couple of those.

RD, have you ever tested Buffalo Bore 158, .357? That would be interesting.

Hi Back in 2012 I did this;

357 Mag 158gr Study

I went about things a little differently back then. But you can get a general idea about how the BB load compared to the others. Ammo makers tend to change components as necessity dictates so the current load may not be the same ammo is it was in 2012. In summery the 2012 BB load was superior in a 4 inch gun, but in a 6 inch gun the BB load was surpassed by a few popular hand loads. The bullet I was using for hand loads was the Hornady XTP.
