9mm PPC accurate ammo

I was in 2nd grade in 71, but was eyeing my POPS blue steeled revovler.

thanks for the info.

Wayne, good to hear from ya. I guess you full time here again?

I will send you the link for the police games in Conroe, Tejas and it would be great to see ya there.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply, but no I am not a Texan, but I take it as a complement to be asked. I am a Pennsylvanian, born, bred, and pedigreed. Not that I like our current state of affairs here.

rundownfid,

no worries on the reply. the reason I asked, there was a shooter from my last match who was shooting a bomared CZ from Conroe, TX and asked me not to show up to the 2009 games. thought it might be you.

take care

Sgt Preston back again. I have now fired 500 rounds thru my new SA 1911 x 9mm Loaded Pistol(P19134LP $899.00). All I can say is WOW! I am impressed. I am shooting it with my old geezer eyes & open sights. My groups are the same size as I get with my S&W PC-945 with the UltraDot LT Red Dot scope. I intended to put a Red Dot on the new SA, but after seeing how well it has preformed so far, I may not. Yabadabado. Sgt Preston USMC LLA

Sarge,

thanks for the report.

I need to order 9mm stuff for my Dillon.

just toooooo busy at work. Crime never takes a breath.

Groo here
Don't forget to try some heavy bullets in your 9mm!
My first year in IPSC I loaded 147gr
loads for my glock 17.
The heaver bullets seem to work well at longer
ranges and will make steel get down!!
Just do not try to drive them fast.
Just enough to feed and cycle well and
make the minimems.

MP9_G17.jpg

The following loading has proven to be accurate in a Glock G-17 and appears to be so in an S&W MP9 after limited use:

Precision hard swaged coated 125gr FP bullet – 4.7grs Unique – Win case – WSP primer – OAL 1.062in - .377in taper crimp diameter.

Note: The Glock G17 accuracy with the Glock OEM and Lone Wolf barrels were on average comparable. The Lone Wolf barrel required minor fitting and polishing of the feed ramp.

I believe that the accuracy potential is there to be more than adequate for the 10 & X rings on the B27-(?) target. That's to say if a better platform is utilized. Is not the AMU that has the Berretta 92 set up for extreme accuracy?

CQB,

Glad to hear your gun has arrived, I'm still waiting on mine. When did you order?

I tried to get that care packet shipped last Monday, but the local "UPS Store" refused, apparently I have to go to the hub. My plans is to hit the hub after I finish with the horses today. I'll keep you posted.

Swamprat, yes I did. thanks and I sent you an email.

MKT, at your conveinance.

I ordered it in Sept and it would have came sooner, but the Shot Show interrupted it being tested. It sat for a week to be tested.

I have not shot it yet. hunny do's!!!!!!

here is my baby. still have not shot it.

tight is an understatement.

the grips will be replaced with LD Shredder Chubs.

This gun was made to duplicate the feel of my duty piece. that way practice for games will also benefit my duty carry.

Sgt Preston back again. SA 1911 x 9mm update.I picked up my new gun on Dec 31st & have put about 1000 rounds thru it so far. The gun has been excellent & totally reliable. Furthermore it seems to love my existing 9mm load. For the record my load is as follows: 124 grain flat point Berry's copper plated bullets, 4.2 grains of Win 231 powder. Win standard small pistol primers, overall length 1.090, crimp diamerter .378/.379, well used range brass. I have been shooting the new gun with open sights & my geezer eyes. The gun seems to be incredably accurate, but my eyes do limit the guns overall performance (slight double vision) to about 80% single ragged hole. The gun even with my eyes is perfect for defensive work as is. But with my S&W PC 945 equipped with a red dot I can do better. So I have decided to buy & add a Burris FastFire Red Dot Sight. It's on order & I have been notified that it & it's adapter have been shipped. I'm not sure whether I should or will drive the existing sight out of it's dovetail or simply take it to my gunsmith and let him install it. But at some point I will come back & let you all know how it works out. Cheers and Semper Fi. Sgt Preston USMC LLA

Sarge,

I am at a crossroads and dont know which way to go in the area of reloading dies (9mm)

what loader and dies do you use?

I want to buy the right dies for the best accuracy potential.

I have a Dillion 550 and was told on another forum to use Lee dies for more accurate results.

I am not a person of speed when I reload and I probably chunk out 100-200 an hr, because I want to powder check each case as I turn and want the slug to sit damn near plumb before I shoot it up into the die. Quality over quantity.

I would like to know what system and dies you are using.

thanks in advance

SW CQB 45,

Is that .45 one of the limited run 10-8 Operators or did you just buy a set of the 10-8 stocks from Hilton Yam? I bought one of the second (and final) run and it's a magnificient 1911.

Wayne

Howdy Wayne,

I wanted a 10-8 but could not come up with the cash.

I bought a used MC Operator in excellant condition (by selling a gun)

I bought all his 10-8 1911 parts.

I sold another gun and had the stash to send to Springfield Custom and Dave Williams hooked me up.

I have got 1800$ in the gun

shoots good. Dave called it almost a custom build as it was only lacking a true fitted barrel as opposed to a production fit. my barrel lockup and bushing fit to barrel is nice but can be disassembled by hand.

I did email Hilton pics when I was done. I wanted to call it a 10-9, but just left it as is.

the only thing I wished I did, was have them cut the MSH for an internal lanyard (not the horseshoe type). I would not use it, but in my opinion looks good.

thanks for asking

CQB 45, I also load on the Dillon 550 & use Dillon dies. The Dillon dies seem to be serving me perfectly. BTW, I am also a "precision" (anal retentive) reloader who expects & demands perfection. Hope this helps. Sgt Preston USMC LLA

Sarge;
It sounds like you are really enjoying your forced retirement. I'll be retiring soon myself, so have started to pay more attention to what the recently retired are doing. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun.
Steve

Steve, I'm enjoying the heck out of retirement so far. I have taken over the all the cooking, the vacuuming & the laundry. BUT that still leaves plenty of time for the gym & the gun range. The old saying "I don't know how I ever had time to work" is so true. I will be 65 in a few days & had planned to retire next February anyway. So I get paid $20,000 per year (unemployment) to stay home & send out resumes. My severance pay was actually more than that. The other guys that I worked with are all about 50 years old. I'm glad they got to keep their jobs. I'm loving life right now. I hope that you enjoy retirement as much as I do. This is great! Sgt Preston USMC LLA

Sgt Preston;
Thank you for the prompt reply, it will seem strange not to go to work, my social security payment record shows I started working in '64 while still in school, it is odd to think of not going to work after all those years.
I'll definitely have time to work up some hellacious PPC loads!!
