I looked at a s&w revolver in 9mm it. It was a Stainless meduim frame.I believe it had a 4" barrel and adjustable sights, but it was gone when i went back for a second look. I would really like to have one of these
Does anyone know what the model # might be

Maybe a 940? Here's my 940 that's a j frame snubby.

The Model 547 which is a K frame was available in 3" & 4" 9mm..
They were fixed sight & only available in blued finish..
Then there's the Model 940 which was also a fixed sight model stainless J frame available in the 2" & 3" barrel lenth, there was also the PC940 which was a ported Performance Center chambered in the .356TSW Round..
I think that has it covered but was also thinking there were a few different S&W revolvers that were chambered in 38 Super that could also chamber 9mm with full moon clips..

BTW Great Looking 940 Mike!!
And Sweet lookin grips too!!

With the price of 9mm ammo being cheaper in price than 38spl or 357magnum a 9mm revolver is a good idea..

(but it was gone when i went back for a second look) famous last words, that is why I will use the option of lay-a-way in a heart beat if I even think it is something I want. You sure it was not the Ruger sp101 in 9mm

My brother has a little Ruger SP101 in 9mm---neat small revolver---shoots well---wish Ruger would make them again---I would buy one!

Does it look like this?

4" S&W 547. No not stainless; a chrome finish.

S&W never made a 9mm revolver with adjustable sights as a catalog item and I've never seen or heard of a Performance Center or customer service 9mm with anything but fixed sights.

The only stainless steel 9mm S&W's were the small J frame guns, the Model 940's. 2 and 3 inchers, fixed sights.

Gun writer Dick metcalf wrote, in his article about the then-new Model 547 (blue, fixed sight K frame), that he was so impressed with the accuracy of his 4 inch sample, that he was going to have a gunsmith add adjustable sights to it, but I never saw any follow-up writings about this.

I would guess that if your memory for the details is correct, the gun is probably a custom job, something like tekarra's photo.

I'll also note that the HCd 4" 547 that tekarra shows has been converted to round butt as the 4" 547s were only available in square butt..

I just wonder if Smith & Wesson knows how many revolvers they could sell if they would come out with the right models, of course we'd want
100% forged parts & no internal lock, do like you used to & put a lock in the case with the firearm.. Or like Ruger, a HUGE Fancy S&W Padock.
And if it has to be an L frame instead of a K frame I could live with that too, being the forcing cone is thicker at the bottom..
Come on S&W step up & make gun buyers happy again..
