Welcome to the Forum!
Holster recommendations are very subjective and depends on your body type, build, whether you're mostly sitting or standing, where on your body you'll want to carry (Appendix, 4o'clock, IWB, OWB, Pocket, etc) and more.

What works for me (or anyone who responds) may not work for you.
Scan through the holster review threads and take a leap, but if you're like most of us, you'll end up trying several before you find one YOU like.

If you have other pistols, start with the brand of holsters you already have for them.
Good luck in your search. :)

I've got a DeSantis thumb break scabbard for OWB carry. High quality and good concealability. You may want to check it out.

Here is a thread that has lots of different manufacturers of holsters.

Here is a link to one that I just started to use. For me it is nice. It keeps the gun riding high and is tucked in close to my body and has a cant of about 10 degrees.
MINI SCABBARD HOLSTERS, Keltec Holster, Concealed Holster, DeSantisHolster.com

A holster that works for me may not work for you. Unfortunately you will end up buying many until you find the right one that works for you.

so many options, it really depends on "how" you want to carry.
I have a smart carry that I use all the time, and a stealthgear Onyx
incoming. The N82 pro is also really comfy but has a retention system that some don't like (I actually really like it now that I am used to it) that I use with my FS .40, I would think with a shield you wouldn't even know you had it on.

IF you have carried a pistol before, then please tell us some of your preferences.
IF this is all TOTALLY new to you, then you need to do quite a bit of research on your own.
I, personally, prefer leather pancake OWB holsters.

I'm using a DeSantis Mini Slide (no thumb break) made for the regular M&P9. It fits perfectly. Another member posted his experience with one recently, and it was just what I was looking for.

For IWB, my preferred holster is a PJ Holster tuckabke. The all plastic design does get tiring against my hip though. I may try a single clip leather+kydex holster by Theis holsters next.

I have a N82 Pro, but the backing is way too thick for my needs. But it's a high quality piece.

First Welcome to the group! Also fill in your profile , there may be some people near you and you may be able to meet up and try their holsters!!
As mentioned We all have our own taste in holsters.. As mentioned check out the holster threads with links,

Hi , a little help please, is this for concealed carry, inside your waist band or outside waistband (like for competition)?

Personally my ccw is a DeSantis Nemesis. And I only carry for steels etc with a blackhawk Serpa CPQ.

Good luck

I have a Wright Leather Works Predator hostler for my 9mm Shield. It is an OWB holster that conceals very well. For me, it is a very comfortable holster with an easy draw at 3:30 4 o'clock - YMMV. Now, if you prefer to go with Kydex, I like JM Custom Kydex and I have one of their version 2s OWB (also concealable) for a different handgun. It is comfortable and holds the handgun very tightly in the holster, however, but I don't have the JM Custom Kydex holster for my Shield - but I'm thinking getting one in the future. Holsters, like handguns are very subjective. It all depends upon the firearm owner. Good luck.

Make sure you check out the Safariland GLS for the Shield. It's a reasonably low cost holster with actual retention that rides tight and draws slicker than KY Jelly. I have a drawer full of holster for my Shields. Everything from Uncle Mike's to G-Code to Bianchi. Once I picked up the GLS the rest just sit there collecting dust.

No matter what holster you pick, also make sure you pick a true gun-belt. They make the WORLD of difference. As to holsters, you might want to consider a hybrid; I think they are a good balance of comfort and speed. FOXX, Comp-Tac, and Garrett Industries are some of my favorites. If you want a little retention, N82 Tactical is perhaps the most comfortable holster around, IMHO.

If you carry IWB then I recommend the MTR Holster. Comfortable, quality, and an easy draw. Carry mine everyday and love it. Check them out!

I carry only IWB and have two -- a BladeTech Nano (NANO IN THE WAISTBAND HOLSTER | Brownells) and the StealthGear that someone already mentioned. Different, but like them both and they don't break the bank.

I am pretty new to concealed carry and bought one of these on a recommendation on another forum. I'm kind of overweight and the nano dug into my side. Not wanting to spend a fortune on holsters right away I got a piece of leather and glued it to the back and it is much better. If I was going to get another holster I would get a hybrid with the kydex and leather.

Foxtrot Concealment on eBay or on his regular website is a good start.

$23ish shipped for a thin IWB kydex holster with a removable clip if you like soft belt loops which can be purchased on Amazon
