I am wanting a 9mm pistol to use with a suppressor. I want a full size, accurate and field proven pistol that I can shoot powder coated cast bullets out of. I have a HK USP 45 Tactical that I feel fits the bill for a 45. Of course I am considering the same in 9mm. I have looked at a number of Sigs, A HK VSP and some CZs. Looking for suggestions and real world experiences.

The Pro CORE 1.0 pictured is near 'hollywood' quiet with my Rugged can and 147 sub. Not sure if S&W has released a factory version with a threaded barrel in 9mm, but aftermarket barrels are easy to get.

The easy answer is that you already like the USPt45, get the 9MM version

But we will all tell you about our favorites anyway :)

While I can not find a photo, I do have a USP 9SD that I often use with a can. I have owned this one since 2010

I am VERY fond of the HKs. I have a Coyte USPt 45 as well as a USPct 45 and an HK45t in addition to my MP5/357 and MP5/10. All of these have been shot suppressed. My favorite is

I fixed the full size USP 45ACP magazines so that mine now hold a standard 14 rounds instead of the 12 rounds that are limited by HK's poor choice for the follower

I also have a early SIG P226 that I added the Factory threaded barrel to as well as the NILLs grips. I have owned ths SIG since 1994. I can not recall when I decided to buy the threaded barrel for it, but since I got my SWR Trident in 2008 I probably bought the barrel around the same time

Though impossible to find these days the X-5 Tac-TB is an AWESOME host. On mine I added the black Factory Jet Funnel ad the NILLs grips. I also ordered X-5 mags with the black bases to match the Jet Funnel. The X-5s were made in the now extinct German MasterShop. They are INCREDIBLY accurate hand guns far surpassing any 9MM host that I own or have ever shot. I got this one in 2008

While not a full size pistol, I did add a Factory 9MM threaded barrel to my Two Tone 357SIG P239. It is smaller capacity but I think it looks great, especially with the optional NILLs grips

I have one of the Smith & Wesson M&P9 Spec-Ops pistols. Only 500 were made back in 2008. The appeal to me was that it was the only 9MM that I know of Smith & Wesson selling threaded 13.5x1LH. So it worked with both of the cans that I already owned for my HKs and Sigs. They shipped with 3 17 round magazines. This pistol now caried a green laser/light combination on the equipment rail. I need to take a new photo

I bought the SWR Trident because at the time it was one of the quietest cans on the market and it was one of the first cans to have interchangeable back ends. It was also rated for both the 300 Whisper (300 Black Out) cartridge and Full Auto. SWR was later bought by SilencerCo. I have factory back ends for the 9MM pistols as well as two different three lug adapters, one for the MP5/9 and the second that had to be slightly modified for the MP5/357. The biggest appeal was that they had a barrel nut adapter for use on the UZI. I had a machinist make me non-LID back ends for use on 22 pistols as well as my 300 Blackout SBR.

My P226 has done well suppressed with no real issues. I put an RXP slide on it for the red dot capability and used a factory threaded barrel. I am biased towards the P226 in general, as it is my favorite pistol after the Swiss P210-6. Just be aware that if you intend to use a red dot on a P226 in order to clear the suppressor, that a lot of 9mm slides cannot be milled. That is why I bought the RXP slide separately.

My Glock 17 in factory configuration does ok as well, but it hasn't been reliable with a ZEV slide on it (also installed for the red dot). I have heard the Glock 17 doesn't make a great suppressor host, but I didn't find it to be all that much louder than the P226.

I don't have a USP Tactical, but I do have other variations of the USP, including Experts in 9mm and .45. I think the USP Tactical would almost certainly make a great host. The 9mm USP is in the same boat as the P226 as far as slide milling is concerned.

In general, I have been underwhelmed by suppressed pistols. I first tried it out with a Dead Air Wolfman and it was obviously ridiculous to use a heavy PCC suppressor on a pistol. Now I use a titanium TBAC Fly-9, which is much better. For whatever reason though, a suppressed pistol doesn't put a huge smile on my face like a suppressed rifle or PCC.

About two weeks ago I ran the rack of plates at the range with a SIG P322 and one of the suppressors I built.

The other shooters only heard Ding . . . Ding . . . Ding . . . Ding . . . Ding . . . Ding and most of them were smiling when I finished
