I own sw40ve sigma and love it. I'm considering buying a sw9ve as a range gun. I'm expecting it to have noticeably less recoil and use cheaper ammo. My thought is practicing with the sw9ve counts as practice towards my hd 40. Will I be disappointed?
I think you'll meet your goals. The 9mm seems to have noteable less recoil than the 40. Lighter bullets and less muzzleblast make for a more comfortable shooting experience IMHO.
My $.02--Any practice with the 9mm will translate into proficiency with the .40. Since dry fire practice directly improves live fire performance, lower recoil practice with an essentially identical gun must also yield improvement. I think all the exterior measurements on the guns are the same with the 9mm weighing 8.5 grams more (per my 2004 S&W catalog). This makes perfect sense.
