Unfortunately my performance center shield chambered in 9mm got stolen and after talking to the police it seems I have little to no chance on it getting found and returned to me, so I'm on the hunt for a new one should I get the new 45 shield I found one online on a website named fourwinds technology for $337 dollars or should I get a non performance center 9mm on gun buyer for $320 dollars, I would love another performance center I just don't feel like spending the extra $150+ dollars on one

I haven't fired either, so take my opinion for what it's worth.

Since you had the 9mm before, I'd stick with that. Whatever gear/supplies you have for your previous 9mm Shield will work with the new 9mm Shield.

Other considerations...

With good SD ammo, there's not going to be a big difference between 9mm and .45ACP in terms of terminal ballistics.

9mm has less recoil than .45ACP, so getting quick, multiple hits will be easier with 9mm, especially in a compact gun like the Shield.

9mm ammo is cheaper than .45ACP, at least as far as factory ammunition is concerned.

Again, just my opinion and what I would do in your situation.

I prefer .45acp to 9x19mm, especially the 200gr. loads.

That having been said, I've never shot ANY polymer S&W of ANY caliber, so I can't tell you how the .45 would compare to the 9mm.

I can say with some certainty that either would be a lot more pleasant to shoot than a .40.

I own both a 9MM and a .45 ACP Shield. While I love the .45 round and own 28 1911 pistols, mostly chambered in .45, I will tell you that the Shield in 9 MM offers a far more pleasant shooting experience in my opinion.

If you don't reload the 9mm ammo will be much cheaper. I don't own a polymer handgun but do have several 9mm's and 45acp's. I tend to favor the 45's but that's just me. By the way, I reload so I can load 45s almost as cheap as 9s.

The shield is not a very large or heavy gun, I think it's better suited to a moderate sized round. If you do want more power the energy of a 9mm+P is right there with the 45. 9mm is a lot cheaper to shoot and you get one more round per mag.

Load a 45 and a 9mm with the same number of rounds, I'll get the rounds down range faster and more accurately with the 9mm.

That's my 2c, I'm sure results will be different for other shooters.

I have long been interested in owning a shield but never warmed up to the "feel" of the 9. I happened into my local LGS a while back and they had a 45 in stock. Well, I really liked the way it felt so I bought it on the spot.

I shoot 45 and 9 regularly and am not a caliber snob. But I was curious how the recoil would be in the shield. I have to say after hundreds of rounds I really, really like the 45 shield. In my opinion not only does it feel better in the hand than the 9 the recoil is very manageable too. No problem with quick follow up shots.

I was also very impressed with accuracy. Great carry gun and it gets my vote!:D

My favorite is the 9mm Luger/
WHY??
Because of all the hollow point high performance ammo now available!!
My second choice is the .38 Special.
You can buy the 110 grain hollow point from lots of makers that will have a super knockdown capability.
The ballistic gel tests tells the true story.
Also being taught the "double tap" at Quantico makes this a fatal event
most of the time.
For longer range, I prefer my old Winchester 30-30, because it just fits.
"Look and see windage",I'm an old pro at.
Yes, I have several AR-15's with plenty of 30 round magazines, and my scoped hand-built 7mm Mauser rifle for deer.

Well, update I ordered another 9mm I was leaning more towards it anyway because I liked my last one so much I guess now I'll see if the extra money I spent on the performance center gun was worth it, it still really gets to me that my performance center got stolen and now I had to opt for the regular shield, hopefully I'll get lucky and get a call that it was found and I'll have 2 shields but I know that is a long shot, dang I hate theifs I don't see why people can't just work for what they want instead of stealing I guess I just never understand people of that nature.......

I agree with the first poster get another 9mm. Your used to that and the ammo is cheaper.
