I know it's not likely, but I figured I would post it anyway (since we all gripe about it on the Semiautomatics subforum). I'd love to see S&W revive at least a few of the 3rd gen models, and update them a little maybe.
C'mon, for better or worse, these were distinctive firearms, not clones or close facsimiles of other brands. SIG, CZ and Beretta can all still make one or 2 signature models (at least) in steel, it would be nice to see Smith and Wesson rejoin the game.
I like the 1911, but that doesn't have to be the only steel gun anyone makes. Not everyone wants a subcompact, not everyone wants a polymer frame. There are some of us who want a nice, fullsize, DA/SA pistol in metal. I get that it's cheaper to mass-produce plastic once the initial design and tooling is done, but still... it would be nice to have a premium option.
