Earlier this evening my bullmastiff starting going nuts in the back bedroom, barking at the window and carrying on. I went to see what had him all wound up and there was a little black bear in the backyard! We've found bear scat out back before but this was the first time in the 3 1/2 years we've lived here that we've actually seen a bear. He probably weighed all of 80-90lbs and didn't care that we were in the window 15 feet away taking pictures. He was eating corn and sunflower seeds out of a feeder my wife put on the back deck for the squirrels and chipmunks and was so close we could hear him crunching. We live pretty close to the road and when he wandered around the fence I ended up putting a couple of 9mm's in the ground to scare him back into the woods so he wouldn't get hit by a car.
