This won't go political and survive.
Leave politics out.

I'll also remind everyone that comments won't go below the standards for this board.

First, let me say that I had two very good friends who died in Vietnam, good men, each one of whom never got to meet one of their sons.

During that time, Jane Fonda was aiding and abetting the enemy. She also posed at the controls of antiaircraft weapons in Hanoi. In nearly nearly every way she could, she dishonored our country.

Perhaps you are too young to remember her being a traitor to our country and to our service men and women. I am not. And I will never forget "Hanoi Jane" Fonda, nor forgive her for her actions.

Now she is appearing in a movie, playing the part of Nancy Reagan. I will not say anything more about this - you can judge for yourself if this is in any way appropriate.

I am personally boycotting this movie starring a woman who should have been hanged for her horrible crimes, in the role of a woman, still living, who was wife to a beloved President who believed in our country with all his heart and soul. The name of the movie is "The Butler."

Use your own judgment on this. Just sayin'. I don't consider this to be "politics." It transcends Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal. I consider this to be a very just retribution to a woman who deserves nothing more than universal scorn by all Americans.

Fonda has paid a life long price for her stance on the war as well she should. A large portion of America will never forgive her or accept her actions or opinions. As far as that movie goes I wouldn't see it anyway. It looks like one of those that just stirs the pot of racism in this country and we don't need anymore of that.

I'm sure her Father Henry was deeply saddened and embarrassed back when it happened. UNFORTUNATELY......... Hollywood NOW does that stuff all the time and they think its cool (ie: Dennis Rodman, Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, etc.) and that's why I have the lowest opinion of those type of Hollywood actors. Back in the WWll era most actors did what they could to support our nation either by joining up, selling Bonds, entertaining the Troops, etc. but now it's a different crop in Hollywood. NOT a change for the good either!!

Orca and Hanoi Jane, has a ring kind of like VD and Lice doesn't it?

I guess I'll have to ask for Forgiveness for being nasty about other people, but both of those women are responsible for running American culture down in their own way in my book.

Some like Carole Lombard and Glen Miller gave their lives supporting this country. Bob Hope and Gary Sinese spent/spend a good portion of their lives supporting the troops. Those are the examples more should follow. I agree with you.

Sorta reminds me of an email quote, " God forgives, Marines arrange the meeting." For a convention, call the Air Force. B-52s send large group invitations.

Gotta love those BUFF's!!;)

I don't watch her at all cause she stinks as an actor.

They could have picked any number of older actresses to play the part. Fonda must be working for cheap!!

Read my edit in the first post.
Yes, in my opinion, she is a traitor.
She committed treason.

During that time, Jane Fonda was aiding and abetting the enemy, and actually passed notes given to her by men in the Hanoi Hilton, intended for their families, to the Viet Cong.
I do not believe this is true.
I believe that her proven actions, like the AA photo and the radio broadcasts, condemn her, and it is harmful to our argument against her to perpetuate that myth.
I will not degrade this board with that unproven myth.
Don't post it here again.

I'll also state that I do not have 100% confidence in Snopes, but they present a very good writeup in this case.

I am too young, but I recieved an education about this from my Father in Law, a Vietnam Vetern. He served in the Navy on a River Patrol Boat.

I will support this boycott, for this and some other reasons.

I don't know if Fonda did what she was accused of or not. As for Snopes I take their writings with a grain of salt. They have their own political agenda and it leans significantly to the left. There have been times when they themselves have slanted stories to fit their ideology.

I have to wonder why the director and producers of the movie would cast Fonda in a role where the character is a loved and respected person and Fonda isn't. Casting Jane in a villainous role would have made much more sense if you were intent on giving her employment.

I'm torn on seeing the movie, even before hearing about Fonda being in it I had a problem with Opra (intentional) being in it. I just cannot stand that woman.
