Here is a pair of pre-10 snubbies with the pre-war style grips both numbered to the guns. These guns put me mind of the 1950's detective movies and are a hoot to fire. John

that is a nice pair to draw to. thanks for sharing. i, like many here, have a great fondness for the "plain" old M&Ps. all you need and nothing more. lee

Very nice pair. Did you buy them together? I have my eye on a nickel pre-mod 10 square butt.

Very nice! The pre-war grips and half moon front sight make a great combination, it really gives the guns that old school detective look

Raider, Thanks for the compliment, lucky I am not a woman, I might have taken offense. I did not buy them together, don't know why I need two though. An interesting aside, one came with a box that is marked for a Square Butt but I believe it to be original as it is marked on the bottom in grease pencil with the serial number as was S&W's custom at the time. Probably the only box on hand at the time. John

LOL! Be glad that you were not displaying a pair of .44's.

Thanks for posting this, like others have said , it brings to mind the old detective shows/movies. I must admit I also have an affection for the old Colt Detective Specials ala Sgt. Joe Friday(Badge 714) of "Dragnet" fame! Thanks for the trip down memory lane

FYI, you are correct, brace = pair. Like a "brace of quail" or "brace of pistols in the belt - Arghh, board the frigate!" (oops, pirate talk slipped in).

Very nice...always like to see the ole M&P appreciated.

Those are lovely. There was really a lot of variation in the amount of checkering on those old grips, wasn't there?

Those are great and look to be in fine shape as well. I love the diamond magna grips. There's something unique with the older models, especially when they're in such nice shape.

A fantastic pair, I too, love round butts. (he said with a straight face).
I don't own any pre 10s' but I did luck into a super smooth 2" post war M&P 38 square butt. It has the 'new' short cocking action. C43xxx places it about 1948 I think.

Regards,,,,
