The driver reportedly passed out from medical issues, drove off the street, across the neighbors yard and into my son's garage/laundry.

My son, grandson, and the dog were in the lower office when they heard a crash and the washing machine came through the wall.

I thank the Lord no one was hurt.

This was on Tuesday afternoon. Helena was due to hit on Thursday. I live three hours away and couldn't get there so I called a fire restoration company I'm familiar with and they came out and buttoned it up on Wednesday.

The car took out load bearing walls (upstairs bedrooms) so the house has been declared unlivable until repairs are completed.

**The finger is my son's. ;) This picture shows how far the car traveled (probably an additional 80 feet, this is the edge of my son's yard) and still had enough acceleration to penetrate deeply into the house.

For sure lucky no injuries. I hope they can get it buttoned up before the cold weather comes.

That’s a shame, seems more people are hitting houses lately around the Cleveland Ohio area. They loose control at high speed and after the crash they get out and run like nothin happened. And my car insurance keeps going up since we pay for this nonsense.

Real Glad nobody was hurt, sometimes gotta stop and count your blessings. Larry

Yep, a local news station has been keeping a tally of vehicles into/thru structures in their viewing area for the last couple years. Every year the number goes up. I think the latest count for this year is 120+. As stated above many of these involve stolen vehicles and the critters climb out & flee. "Medical events" feature prominently in the causes and I believe that also incorporates elderly drivers since it's not politically correct to call them out for their age and poor driving ability.

I hope your son can get a jump on getting his insurance people involved and getting a contractor lined up before the shortages kick in due to the hurricane aftermath.

The son's insurance may not be responsible for the repairs. Many home owner's policies don't cover damage by vehicles figuring it's the auto insurance company's responsibility. If that is the case, I hope the guy had good insurance. I've been hearing some real nightmares about Allstate. :(

Wow, that could have been really bad. A lot of times these type of accidents result in fires from electrical lines and gas/propane lines. Glad all is well

More times than not, the hit and runners around here take off. Either they have no insurance, a suspended or no license, unregistered vehicle, driving a stolen vehicle, are DWI, have warrants, or all of the above.

Look around for an independent Insurance Claim Adjuster.
Your Agent may be your friend, the Adjusters are not.
At a time like this you need a professional gunslinger on your side, you are dealing with real professionals.
The various insurance companies are not there to pay you, they seem to want you to go away with the least you will take. Starting with, "not our issue", progressing to "well, that was an old wall and will need to be depreciated" with a paper whirlwind of necessary quotes and papers thrown in.

This was almost three years ago. Neighborhood One Stop store. Driver said she hit the gas instead of the brake...

I fixed a barber shop that looked like that. A short jump over the curb. Happens more frequently than one would imagine.

I'm a contractor and familiar with working claims from the repair side. I've referred him to a contractor who also knows how to 'work the claim' so my son is only responsible for the deductible. I'd fix it myself but it's too far away and my schedule won't allow right now.
