I got a few weapons from my dad a long time ago and have no idea of a value and only have an idea of a date on one of them.

1 - A Model 28-2 .357 Highway Patrolman, 4", blued, 2 screw? S# S224xxx I think 1961 or 1962.

2 - A Model 37 Airweight .38 spl, 2", nickeled, 5 shot snubby S# J823xxx

If you have an idea of the date on the 2nd one or a confirmation of the 1st I would appreciate it.

Also, I have little idea of a value on either.

I'm just going by the Standard Catalog but your 37 should be from 1969 or '70, the Catalog confirms your date on the 28.

28s have really risen in value the past couple of years and, as with everything, condition is king. Same for the 37, without photos hard to say as the range can be very great on both. Low end $300, high-well perhaps $700 or so for the 28, $500 for the 37. These are just random guesses going by what I've seen-though by no means do I track the prices.

Fan, thanks for the comments.

Here are some pics of the 2 of them. One is a little blurry because it is hard for me to hold things steady.

These appear to be some really nice Smiths. You have two very desirable firearms there.
Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on the purchases and the 28-2 with 4 inch barrel and S serial number is a wonderful revolver.

Welcome.

Very nice revolvers and your Dad (and/or you) took exceptionally good care of them.

Family treasures to be sure.

Enjoy them in good health!

I am a little confused on the 28-2 date. I have a 28 no dash, 6" with S serial# S2011xx. was told that it was from 1960. What is correct, 1 or both? Thanks, Bob

1. Probably shipped 7-8/1962
2. Probably shipped mid-late 1981
