Both Glock and HK use the polygonal rifling in their barrels. Makes it easy to clean, but you cannot use cast [non-jacketed] bullets in them. That's why Brownell's and MidwayUSA sell replacement barrels for them. When the Glocks first got here a LOT of PDs had barrels splitting on the practice range. No one knew at the time.

On the subject of the BP loads, remember that in the early days of measuring ballistics, they used a pendulum aparatus to measure and then estimate the velocity. We are using chronographs and computers now, so we may be seeing the actual results of what the cartridges really do as opposed to estimation.

Thanks for the info about Mike Venturinos book. I've loaded modern ammo for over 25 years and am just now getting into the older models. The more S&W has "improved" their guns, the better the old ones look to me.

I used to do all my own load developement but since I'm getting old I might have to look for a copy.
