yay or nay?

I understand that P, +P and +P+ is no bueno according to the extremely vague owners manual that came with my 9ve, and that salesmen will sell you whatever they can, so...Is it okay for me to use this ammo in my 9ve?
Im unsure if it causes too much pressure in the muzzle, if the casing of the round jives with what S&W recommends, etc.
I just want to make a correct and responsible choice.

Also, what are you knowlegable and responsible folk using to clean your sigma after a day of range lovin' ?

Finally, I HATE being an uninformed owner of ANYTHING. Can anyone recommend any literature that will help me to better understand this weapon? The owners manual is not all that helpful.

Thanks

+P+ is a very hot load so, I wouldn't use it myself. I have shot a mag full of +P with no ill effects but, would not use it all the time personally.

Apparently you don't understand SAAMI ammunitiion ratings. Standard and +P both have SAAMI specifications and are both recommended for the Sigma.
+P+ literally means "in excess of SAAMI standards" and you have to ask the manufacturer how they were loaded. Since S&W has no way of knowing what +P+ ammunition you might choose, they do not warranty the gun for it. Some +P+ is not that much over +P, some is way over.

As to how to take care of a Sigma, clean it when it needs it, lube it according to the manual (more is not better) and don't oil the striker channel. It is a simple gun to maintain and very reliable in stock form. For most shooters, I recommend field stripping only, and letting S&W fix any failures under their free shipping warranty.

Go the main Sigma & SD Pistols page and up top is a sticky called Notable Thread Index. There is a Sigma FAQ in there that has lots of useful information.

I fired +P once, only once. I immediately had a FTF on the next round. It was a bitch to get the magazine out and that was the first and last time I tried it.

I shoot +P all the time in my Sigma no problems the key is not to mess with the springs in the sear

I carry Winchester Ranger Ts, 115gr +P+. have shot more than a few, no problems. They WILL shoot through both sides of a car, ;)

I see no reason to use anything heavier than 124 grain. I understand that the is the target weight for the 9mm design. I want my guns to last forever and/or maintain their resale value.
But then that's me, your preference may be higher.
