I just installed a couple new items to my 15 Sport. The mako magweel grip turned out to be a perfect fit for the M&P 15, No modifications at all. Also added a BCM GunFighter Ambi Charging handle, nice addition, good feel to it ,very happy. And I installed a CAA Stock Saddle to my fixed stock. Nice fit but had to deburr some edges for better fit. This also feels better to the cheek while looking at the target. Added some paracord, a double cobra weave to the stock while making tethers for the battery storage compartment caps. Because my stock is fixed and pinned I was able to remove the adjustment lever which made some more room for the cord. Can't tell but after photo reversed scope mount and flip around quick release to bring scope back for much better eye relief.

Charging handle

Tell me about the difference between the stock version & the BCM charging handle. What are the differences.

Love the Paracord, looks great!

The BCM charging handle can be used by left and right hand and has much bigger pull handles. Real easy to use with gloves. Feels alittle stronger then stock also.

I like how you're going about equipping your rifle. You're finding the little things that make your interface with the rifle better, the cool factor is a secondary bonus. If I had taken the same path as you, I wouldn't have a box of spare AR parts on my workbench.

Keepin it simple.

Thanks Japes glad you like my setup. Trying to keep things simple, holding out as long as I can on buying a new forearm hand gaurd / new gas block and removing the front sight. The gun works really great for me, I'm always thinking is this going to make me shoot better or is it just going to look good. I'm no marksman but when I go to the range people may think so by how I set myself up when I'm there. Just enjoy the structure of it all. Finding new things to work on every week. With the paracord copied off the minimalist stock if that right? Next may be changing the grip. Something good for target shooting. Had one in mind, really conformed to the hand but canceled it on last order. Forget the brand name. Any suggestions? Thanks again, always look for your opinions.

Don't forget you can mail order a complete upper, equipped exactly the way you want, and use your existing lower. You can have an upper configured for close/medium range and another for long range.

Always good line of thought. Function over form. Will the accessory or modification improve my interface with the rifle? If it also looks cool, then that's a bonus. :)

Meaningful, purposeful, consistent application of the fundamentals of marksmanship is how you get better. Striving to always do better is a noble goal.

Yup.

Hold as many grips as possible. Pay attention to how a grip contour affects your trigger finger position. Can you get the pad of your finger on the face of the trigger? Is the grip comfortable?

I run Magpul MIAD on my rifles. I like the modular inserts. It lets me get the grip right. Other than that grip, I really like a standard grip.

I have the BCM 4. Some people complain that it is too large. They usually have a single point connection sling and claim that it gets caught up while walking with it. I have a 2 point sling and haven't any complaints about its size.

BCM

Dan, what size charging handle is your BCM. I like it.
Jim

Not exactly what size it is. Didn't know their were different sizes. I bought it because it looked like what I was looking for in a charging handle. Ok just went and got info. package says
BCM GFH 556 Mod A44. This Doesn't tell how big the handle is, I think it's a good size, why they make bigger ones of this brand?

The A44 is a BCM 4 (medium size) only in an ambi. Yes, BCM makes a Mod 3 (larger size) and a Mod 5 (smaller size) with regards to charging handles, but only the size 4 is available in the ambi as you have.
