I have -NEVER- in my life seen a 52-2 with the trigger that far forward and I have been looking at 52’s and 52-1’s and 52-2’s and pictures of them for decades.

A no-dash 52 can have the trigger out in a similar fashion but only when it is adjusted for double action mode.

A 52-2 has a pre-travel adjustment screw but I have never toyed with one to take the trigger THAT far out.

What is shown in your picture is more than odd, I would suggest it is unheard of (until now…?)

Interesting observation

When I bought it, it had been worked on by Bubba, unbeknownst to me. Had
my LGS Smith work on it and this is how it ended up. I may have to have him take a second look!!
