I was off today, so I loaded up and headed for the hills, BLM land about an hour and a half away. Listened to The Allman Brothers and Meatloaf on the way. When i got there, I had the place completely to myself, and it's just beautiful, 85 degrees and clear. Shot with my 2 Kimbers, a full size and an Ultra at my favorite targets, golf balls and bowling pins at 15 yards. Shot hundreds of flawless rounds through both guns. Then got out the Remington 870 and shot #7 shot at stationary clays. Then 00 Buck at two small watermelons and just vaporized them. Lunch under the trees and a good cigar was next. Before leaving I propped the cigar stub on a stump and shot at it with the Ultra. I hit it too! OK, on the 11th shot, but still!
Back to work tomorrow, what a good day.

Nice day indeed:)

I had a similar day. I was off, and first thing this AM got a new Beretta 96G .40. Of COURSE I immediately went home to test it out. I took my new Beretta, my 681, my less than 2 week old cheapo .22 Mag revolver, and my 629 out to my own range and shot a few hundred rounds. :D

Back when I lived in Salt Lake, I would get a friend and go to the BLM lands for what we called the "All American Veggie Shoot!" We would take potatoes, canned veggies, watermelons, cheap beer....anything we could find that would provide "reactive" targets.

Potatoes at 100 yds with a scope are always fun...and just like R. Lee Ermy does, watermelons are always in season!

Damn, I love it.

Damn that sounds like fun! I can't afford to shoot much more than .22s and BBs right now. Good on you for enjoying the sport.

Charlie, cheap beer always has a spot in the back of the fridge. And now on the range too!

Cool

Sounds like a great time . While it is fun to shoot with someone, there are times when you can really relax shooting by yourself. I've been there brother.....
