......For. He is like a lot of us who sometimes let a favorite get away.

He is trying to find a Model 28 with the serial number S293900.

Any help in locating this old favorite would be greatly appreciated by him.

Thank you.

Nothing like that, as a lot of us have at times, he let it slip away. He has regretted it ever since.
I know how he feels, in a moment of financial necessity I let my k22 that I had sent to Armoloy slip away also.
Thank you for checking your HPs, very kind of you.

We are all just temporary caretakers of items and as we age nostalgia rears it's head.

I’m not sure nostalgia really has an ugly head. Maybe in some ways. But I think I know what you mean. I bet almost all of us have had a few regrets. I know I have. Two of them I was able to turn around, but in the long run, I’m not sure how important it was. I can’t help with the Model 28, except to say that I probably know how your friend feels, and help I would, if I could. I wish him good luck.

It never hurts to ask!

A buddy of mine asked me to find him a M34 (22LR, blued J frame) in excellent condition. He trusts me implicitly as he knows I am a very discriminating buyer & collector. I have been on the lookout for about 3 months and last week I found a vintage model in its original box with all paper work, S&W paper, tool kit, and was either almost never fired or just test fired. I would rate it at 99.5% including grips and box. I called him immediately and told him if he did not want it, I would take it myself as I could not leave it sitting there. He took it. If I did not already have a M63 (same gun in Stainless Steel) I would not have asked.

So always ask! One never knows!

I’ve had friends ask me to watch for …….hard to find guns for a crazy cheap price. I tell them if I find something like that, it’s not going to them.

Wouldn’t hurt to put this on the Wanted to Buy section. Just watch out for scammers who just happen to have a friend who has the gun “in top condition”.

Thanks to each of you who checked numbers. It is a long shot but sometimes Longshots hit .

Hey, it never hurts to ask. Sorry, my only S-prefix Highway Patrolman is S114xxx, a first year (1954) revolver. I assume that your friend previously owned S293900 and is certain that it is a Highway Patrolman (ca. 1967-68)? I only ask because all of the N-frame revolver models (pre-model and early Model no.'s) had S-prefixes prior to about 1969 and most s/n's were randomly assigned. This particular revolver might be next to impossible to find, but you could get lucky. Your friend may have to settle for an HP from the same time period. I had to do that for a Model 57 that was stolen from me during a burglary and never recovered. Good hunting!
