At one of the big Tanner shows in Denver (about 2004) I found some "Liberty". I always got there early and would make a fast cruise through (almost a trot) looking for "grip opportunities". I spotted this Ruger Blackhawk .45 LC sporting a very nice pair of sambar (woohooooo!). The price was about $100 more than I knew the sambar alone were worth. But then I also saw it was 1976 bicentennial "marked" (woohooooo again !!). It has been my XRN3-RED frame for grip fitting ever since. When I finished the pair shown on it a few years ago, I knew I could not sell them. It was the last pair from a very special aged/colored antler that rarely shows up. Have I shot it ? You betcha :) I believe a former owner swapped out the rear sight and hammer for Super Blackhawk parts as it has the wide hammer and white outline. I think this gun deserves these grips - the sambar it came with are long gone !
