I was born in Brooklyn, New York. I have absolutely no memory of the place. I did, however, have the address on my birth certificate (123 Livingstone Street). Livingstone didn't build the brownstone; I understand another Revolutionary did.
I sent the address to a friend who is a federal district court reporter in Baltimore. She goes to New York quite often. She went to the address and took some photos. The brownstone is still there.
Before she passed, I shared the photographs with my mother. She had some stories to tell about that old brownstone.
The neighborhood had many "exotic" people. The most exotic were on the third floor of my parents' brownstone. They were two ladies who worked as stewardesses for BOAC. They were also lesbians. My mother said, even for that day and age, even in Brooklyn, you couldn't get any more exotic than that.
