A Knife for the Bug Out Bag?

I definitely like Fallkniven and ESEE knives for a BOB, and I've added one of those two for future purchases. I also like BRK's offerings, and found some nice knives with Black Jack Knives.

A lot of designs are functional across a wide range, and some seem a lot more specialized than others. The advice I've gotten is first make sure that the knife functions well for what you want, then pick out which feels better for you.

Depending on how much you can afford to spend on a knife, you can always sketch out a design and commission a knife maker to grind one out for you.

BOB'S

NOT battery operated boyfriends! Chuck in a couple boxes of single edged razor blades, very light/low cost/take up little space. A multitude of uses.

Single edged razors don't have the same durability that a solid fixed blade does though. They're great for slicing, but they're not as robust for hacking, chopping, piercing, or prying.

You probably don't want to do a lot of the more abusive tasks with a knife, but if that's all you have, then you're going to have to make due. That's when a solid overbuilt fixed blade comes in handy.
