I just want to share another S&W revolver I have...it's nothing special I know. I'm not sure where this one belongs but I think I'm right putting it in the 1980 to present revolver group. I've had this model 36 about 10 years. It came from a west coast collection. The finish has some pitting and rust so the storage environment was not the best. Serial number ABW99xx. I've shot and carried it in previous years but not lately.

I like the j frames, the grips on this one belong on a earlier version. I'm thinking around '66-68 or before.

Interesting about the grips and news to me. There was another J Frame 38 Spl. with a pinned barrel in the collection spoken for by another buyer. I wonder if the grips got switched while being cleaned up for the sale.
Thanks

Check the right grip for a serial number then contact the seller of these j frames and see if the serial number on the other one matches the grips. Then go from there..

Wrong stock on mod-36

This chip in the left stock may be the reason someone swapped stocks with an earlier model-36. I guess the defect makes these period incorrect stocks less desirable. And the numbers on right side stock are 28508 for what it's worth.

Thanks
