We registered with Good As Gold Rescue and told them we were interested in adopting if a dog came along. Friday, we got an email that they had a year old Golden Retriever female available if we were interested. It said we could wait until after the holidays if we preferred. We preferred to be in the car at 7 the next morning and headed for Chicago. Tiffany came from Puerto Rico and is very small for her age. She is a typical Goldie and likes to play and be with her family. We took a walk to the park this AM and she enjoyed that. She had been living in a small apt in the city and was left alone every working day. She won't be alone much here. We thought this was going to be our first Christmas in 40 years without a Golden. My wife was sad as she got out the ornaments for the tree and so many were dog related. This was a wonderful Christmas present for all of us.

Goldens are wonderful & beautiful dogs, my kids grew up with one.
And great that you were able to take her as a rescue.

I know what you mean about the Christmas ornaments, have lots of Goldens, Yellow Lab & Black Lab ones. They invoke lots of memories.

We lost our golden last year at Christmas. Gonna start looking after April for a new pal.

Congratulations on your latest addition. I'm sure you're new girl will love her forever family. We lost our Yellow Lab, Rodeo, the first week in December 2013 to cancer. At just about this time last year, my wife found a five year old Black Lab online at our local shelter. Sam has been with us for a year now, and has taken the pain out of our loss. He and Derby, a female lab/retriever mix, are family. Rescues make the best pets. Merry Christmas!

Congrats on the new pup. Our second rescue dog was a Golden/Brittany mix. We lost her a number of years ago to canine leukemia. Great dogs, wonderful joyous personality.

Congratulations and thanks for rescuing her, she's a real cutie!

Good for you and your rescue, more people should rescue dogs rather than high bred pedigrees...JMHO.
My son has owned a part golden/pit female that he took from the owner that had wired her mouth shut with baling wire. The wire had cut into her nose below her eyes as she grew. As my son was taking the wire off her he asked the moron why he wired her mouth shut, he said "She barked too much." The guy must have known my son would have beaten him if he put up a fuss and let him take her home. To this day she still has the scars where the wire cut her, she is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever been around. I've never played rough with her like my son has, I just love her. Whenever I'm over at his house the dog is usually at my feet, he's always said that I'm the only person that she would probably go home with if I asked her, I tell him she wouldn't leave him but she'd think about it. My son's ex-wife named her Mixie, because she thought it was cute being that she was a mixed breed. My son was goofing around with the puppy and when she barked she sort of made a Mooing sound, he hung Moo on her and she's been Mixie Moo ever since or just plain Moo.

How fitting that your gift came in the greatest season for gifts. I know she will receive the gift of love from your family.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Congrats and now for that Merry Christmas you thought would be kinda empty!
