Thanks to this forum and MiltFarrow.
I've proudly added a new member to my S&W family. A nice 10-5, 5 inch. I removed the original stocks to preserve them. I had a set of rosewood for a K frame, so on they went. Hopefully the rain holds out and I can make a range report next week.

Now, I'm doing the only sensible thing to do during a rain delay. Make up a nice batch of moderate plinkster's for the 10-5. While my wife finishes up the soup (chicken and lentils).
I'm sure I'll hear the faint sound of "When your done playing around in the bullet-room, your soup is ready." Over the sound of classic rock rumbling out of the old Zenith AM/FM box.
These type of days remind me of lazy days at hunting camp. When I was a kid in the 80s. I swear those old timers at camp were straight out of a Rockwell painting. 20251121_121906.webp

Wow, that’s really nice. 5 inch barrel is certainly somewhat unique. Enjoy that beauty!
Thank you, Sixgun
I enjoy the balance and accuracy of the 5".
My great uncle had an old Army hand-eject M&P 5 inch in 38 colt. That I was allowed to shoot, even took a few snakes and rabbits with it.
When this one was offered to me. I knew I had to have it. The fact it's in great shape made the choice even easier.

Alot of great looking M10s have been posted hopefully it continues.

I like the look of those stocks. Altamont? The fit does not look very good, though. It may just be the camera angle, but the grip frame looks to be quite "proud" of the wood. Am I seeing it right?

No they are not Altamont. I got them at a gun show with a bunch of others a few years back. The grip frame is slightly proud of the wood, but it's even all around. Same thing on the other side. I thought they where just designed like that, it's comfortable in my hand.
