I have a virtually matched set of S&W PC 657-s. Trying to determine ages, approx. values and decide which one to part with.
1. 657-2 SN 206
2. 657-3 SN 080.
Just cannot get a good photograph with lighting and my phone :-(

A nice problem to have. LOVE my .41's!!!

Do you have the original boxes with these revolvers?

If you do, the end label will have both the 6 digit product code along with a 4 digit SPEC ORD number. These should allow us to give you an exact date of manufacturer of each revolver

If you do not have the original boxes please provide the three character alpha prefix of the serial numbers and we will be able to guesstimate the year of manufacturer from that

In order to guesstimate a value range on the revolvers we would need to know what condition they are in. Also we need to know how complete the package is...do you have the original box and all the original paperwork and accessories etc

Finally chasing the questions from Colt SAA. #1. 657-2 SN 206. No box, no extras. It came with a S&W soft zippered case. That is all I have on it. #2. 657-3 SN 080. I have the original box, no accessories. Somewhere acquired a S&W soft zippered case as well. On the blue box I can make out Product #170062. The number below it is somewhat obscured but I can read RSR5323. Spec. Ord. 5236. There is no alpha characters that I can see. Hope that helps. Any insight will be helpful.

080 and 206 are not S&W serial numbers. The official serial number will be on the butt of the revolver's grip frame. For Smith and Wessons that are wearing target grips the serial number is always in a second location as well. Usually this is under the cylinder crane. Modern serial numbers will be three letters followed by four numbers for a total of seven characters

Revolver number two was manufactured on August 24th of 1995.

RSR5323 would be a correct serial number for SKU 170062 and is probably the serial number of your firearm

SKU 170062 should look like this revolver, but wearing Altamonte Rosewood finger groove grips in place of the Goncalo Alves Hogue grips that are on my revolver

Sorry for the poor quality 22 year old photo

At this time there is not enough information to identify your revolver #1. Some pictures would go a long way to making it easier for us. Even a poor cell phone picture could be beneficial in identifying the revolver

I removed grips and found the illusive SNs! Trying to also attach pictures. Many thanks!
