Someone told me when the 460 models came out there was an issue of forcing cone problems and extreme flame cutting. I have both of these handguns, have only put 3 boxes 200gr. SST Hornadys thru each. Is this something Smith & Wesson has taken care of as I know the Performance Center Models were actually recalled in 2007 I think. Mine shoot absolutely perfect, with nothing out of the ordinary. The spent casing "birthdate" is 02-05-09 on the "V" 5" and the XVR's date is 04-20-09 from the factory. Anyone with any information on this would be appreciated. I have heard both stories that S&W corrected it with more strength added to the frame and barrel and someone else said that they really did nothing but add a shim??
Thanks,
And anyone who has had a problem let me know also...Thanks

I have owned the 5" 460v since May, 2007 and have used the same Hornady ammo you mentioned...no problems at all. My brother-in-law has a 2008 5" model with no problems...loves the revolver.

Also, I have owned the 4" 500 since December, 2007 and only shoot the 300 grain SST's.

Both guns are extremely loud with concussion blast but very accurate. The 460v is my favorite handgun.

iam setting up a 4 model with the t.k.custom -4-caliber conversion to shoot .460 ..454 casull and 45.lc and 45.acp ammo ..i am going to mount a reddot scope on it for hunting handgun and use it also for back county bear protection when out in the woods working around the area..so i been wondering about ammo what do you guys use for bear and basic hunting needs ..the 45.acp ammo part is for the hardball ammo i have for the 1911 pistol so i can pratice without breaking the bank ..good idea or not ..
