A quick question about the 645

I have one with the Phillips head on the safety. I've not had any of the problems mentioned above. If any of you know how many of the 645's were produced in the 2 years that they were made i would really like to know? A really interesting note, my 645 has British Proof markings!!

With the version with the target sights is it possibile to remove that entire assembly and completely replace the rear sight or is it part of the slide itself?

and has anyone done up any smith and wessons of that era (9mm or otherwise like the 645) with a bead blasted slide and a normal polished stainless steel frame?

I'm kinda having second thoughts about that bit about the 645 project and I'm just curious if anyones seen any stainless ones done up like that.

I think there is an aftermarket alternative to the factory adjustables. This gun looks beautiful and only forty more dollars than the other one you linked to. That thing isn't worth 300 dollars in the condition it is in.

No I'm not looking for an alternative, I've already settled on the novak front and rear sights I'm just wondering if that target assembly is a permanent fixture or if it can be taken off without leaving anything on it Vs what it looks like on the ones with the standard models sights:

personally I'm going to go with this with the novak sights and the 4506's right side safety minus the engraving:

and the beadblasting is the main thing I'm kinda iffy on, the plan was to recreate the look of the gun before it in the show with that silver finish over stainless

but I'm starting to think it would look alright as it is without it, my main gripe with the normal sights is that it looked unbalanced and stubby and the right side safety assembly just looks wrong and would look better as a 4506 lever

A 645 with a factory adjustable sight is not compatible to a Novak sight conversion.
