"Nobody from the Schoharie sheriff's department is going to be taking any weapons away from anyone unless they have committed a crime," Desmond said. "An average law-abiding citizen is not going to have to worry about the sheriff's department coming to take their weapon or arresting them for having a weapon."

This is exactly the type of input that would have been heard through and through had this bill not been rammed through the Legislature. Cuomo, new it would get shredded if it were allowed to go to committee. Lets hope other law enforcement agencies follow suit. How many state troopers are there state wide?

Unfortunately, by not asking for a law requiring confiscation, we can only guess what the fine citizens of New York would have done, and what if anything citizens from other states would have done to assist, their fellow citizens of NY reclaim their rights? I can only wonder how the NY courts would rule, how the Federal courts would rule, and how the Supreme Court would rule, had NY chosen to actually confiscate currently owned and legally possessed weapons that would fall under a ban. We know that Cuomo wants a confiscation, and he aspires to national office, but we do not know what will happen if he gets his dream fulfilled.
