A sad 1917 .45acp

End of the saga

The .455 Hand Ejector Second Model has gone back to its original owner. He wouldn't budge on the price, I wouldn't pay it.

I took it to a local expert with some high magnification gear and he determined that it had .455 on the barrel originally and as part of the change to .45 the last '5' was stippled over. The 'AR' was added to signify Autorim.

For those that care, the moon clip conversion was done by removing material from the rear of the cylinder.

My friend, the expert, also believes that Canadian inspection marks were removed in two places.

He put its value at $200, as many of the experts here already surmised.

Thanks to everyone for their help, I feel like I lived through a little mystery here, and now the mystery is solved.

Good decision. A better one will show up soon. Seems like I go through droughts that last a couple of months, then three or four really nice guns appear all at once.

Oh heck, if everyone listened to good advice, most of us probably wouldn't be here right now. :D

It is what it is. What it is, is a shooter. Too costly. I would also pass.
