From Colorado to the National Museum of Military Vehicles, in Dubois Wyoming. This museum is amazing. Not just for its collection, but even more so for the way the history is displayed. I am a history nerd, I will not try to explain why this museum is so unique, but I will say that even the most dis-interested visitor will be impressed. Look it up and plan your visit, I will be coming back. Then onward to the Buffalo Bill Center of The West, Cody Wyoming. I am a firearms nerd (surprise?), and the Cody Firearms Museum far exceeded expectations. The sheer volume of guns on display is staggering. It is more of a classic museum and research center than the NMMV and could be more than a non-enthusiast could handle, but for me the collection was both immense and extremely informative. Westward for a brief nature interlude in Yellowstone, a terrific, brief first visit for me. Then Ogden Utah.
The Union Station Museums and The Utah Gun Collectors Show for the weekend. The show was very nice and I acquired a dream knife, but Mecca was the John Moses Browning Firearms Museum at Union Station. Two great visits: a museum full of originals, proof of concepts, prototypes, first production models and last production models. The sheer inventive genius on display in a concentrated place! Brother Ed's ability to fabricate this genius's work in steel and wood. JMB and brother Matt's ability to work with the worlds greatest firearms manufacturers. All here! Everything you know about JMB and every model you are all familiar with is here. Wow! I am a secular acolyte and have been my whole life. We have been home two weeks and today I paid homage to JMB's engineering and Colt's manufacturing by putting 250 rounds through my first brand new handgun since 1977 (which was a Series 70 Government Model). It was literally perfect!
